GASMS-Beatriz M.Champagne

Dr Beatriz Marcet Champagne (United States/Argentina) is Executive Director at the InterAmerican Heart Foundation, an organisation that has made important contributions to research, tobacco control, risk factor prevention, and cardiovascular emergency care in Latin America and the Caribbean. The IAHF has developed advocacy networks in the region, including a network of young people to focus on the three main risk factors. Her organisation has managed the CARMELA Study, a public-private research project to identify risk factors for CVD in seven Latin American cities. 
Her areas of expertise include:
• Advocacy in tobacco control
• CVD prevention
• Nutrition/diet, obesity and physical activity, ecological/policy approaches
• Youth issues - she is involved in the Interamerican Health Youth Network
• Workplace prevention - particularly smoke-free workplaces
